In front of Global Women’s Day, HuffPost Australia exclusively previews the show launched by popular Instagram account, BrownGirlGang.
From Gal Gadot’s Wonder girl to Ruby Rose’s Batwoman, feminine superheroes are starting to mirror greater variety. However for Sanjana Nagesh – the founder of popular Instagram account, BrownGirlGang (BGG) – there’s yet to be a superwoman the Indian-Australian can connect with.
It is as a result she recently made an internet callout to BGG’s 66,000 followers, asking them to illustrate and deliver through their particular “interpretation of the South Asian superwoman”.
Developing element of an artwork show which will introduce on Global Women’s Day on March 8, Nagesh stated each example illustrates the “skin tone, facial features, body shape and fashion” of South Asian females throughout the world.
“Growing up, I never really had a task model in conventional news whom represented twin social identities like being Indian-Australian, ” the 23-year-old told HuffPost Australia.
